New UI Old Spell Icons

I am old school and have not used the new UI as I can not get used to the Spell icons / gems. If any others have the same issue and do not know how to make it better here is how you do it.

1. Create a folder under your EQ\uifiles directory.
2. Copy all the files in the default folder to the new folder.
3. Copy from the default_old folder the following files to the new folder:

spells01.tga - spells07.tga
gemicons01.tga - gemicons03.tga

4. Load EQ and use loadskin to load the new UI.

Now you have the new UI with old spell icons. Just remember to update the folder after each patch. I usually just delete all the files in the new folder and redo steps 1-3 again.

Thanks Gaflack! I'm "old school" as well and was wondering how to get things back to "normal" after the expansion. I see the old UI won't be supported any more and that you have to treat it like a custom skin if you want to use it...only problem is I've never used a custom skin so don't know the steps required to save the old UI in its entirety. BTW, the latest poll on Allakhazzam has the old UI beating out the new UI by 8%... Verant/Sony never could take a hint and just let us have our old UI back

this is emencely helpful to me . 8) becuase i hate the new spell gems to . so i shall be doing this to fix that problem . 8) thank you so much
